GOD or NOT # 9: Truth - Now with twice as much veracity.

Hello, greetings, and welcome to the 9th edition of GOD or NOT. We've got quite a show for you today, featuring action, suspense, and even a few links. And now, a Short History Of The Truth:

As a wise man once said, "Where the hell are my glasses?" This wise man was worried that without his glasses, he would not be able to find the truth. Or the magazines he was hiding from his wife, whatever. The point is, the truth is out there. It has been there for centuries. In fact, it has been there since 1346 CE, when Johann Frances III (Jr.) pulled it out of the family well. Once he realized that the smelly and moldy object in his hands was not, in fact, a drowned rat, he immediately put it on his family's mantelpiece.

From that day forth, people from miles around journeyed to Johann Frances III's (Jr.) house to gaze into his mantelpiece, in search of the truth to their lives. Unfortunately, one very rude pilgrim took the truth and replaced it with a drowned rat when nobody was looking. He ran miles and miles and miles, and even a few kilometers, before Johann Frances III (Jr.) realized what had happened. Needless to say, he was very angry. Then he got the plague. Now, on to the posts.

NOT: The critics are raving about Daily truths and eternal white lies, by Francois Tremblay of Goosing the Anthithesis. Look inside for a stunning tour de force that travels to the days of early man…but then reveals the future, causes a cosmic paradox, and kills us all.

GOD: And now, BK defies all of our worldy expectations in his post The limits of rationality when encountering the living God. That's right folks, the living god. He's back for a suspenseful and visually breathtaking sequel to BK's submission to the previous GOD or NOT carnival.

NOT: Prepare to forget all you've ever been taught as you read this next entry. But don't be scared - Uberkuh will save you with Truth - the Ultimate Comfort. It's a tad long, but filled with crowd-pleasing analogies, diagnoses, and if you look hard enough, a molehill.

GOD: Have you ever felt Held by the Truth? Entranced by its tantalizing gaze? Its crazy deliciousness? Well, Tom Gilson's post is just as crazy delicious, with succulent descriptions of a Christian's search for the Truth.

NOT: Is it? Is it? Yes! It is! Critically-acclaimed blogger Ebonmuse now brings us Christian? Jewish? Who Cares?, an inspiring tale about the dangers of raising children with religion, at the expense of…yes, truth.

GOD: Now it's time for an insight into the life of Brendan McPhillips, with his post Spirituality and the Meaning of Life in Summary. This is a collection of summaries of 'spiritual truths' as understood by great thinkers. Brendan asks whether atheists are "so committed to their literal thinking that they're afraid to consider the truth".

NOT: What can be said about the next post, Gawain's God Refuses To Be Known? This epic journey helps the reader dissect and investigate all the gooey innards of religious 'truths'. Not for readers with weak-stomachs, pregnant women, or anyone who drives a Honda. They know why.

NOT: Truth is a big issue, says Morgaine. And the questions don't stop there, so take a look inside.

GOD: There is an absolute moral Truth, argues Xyba…at least, for theists. Look inside for positions, points, questions, and even a conclusion. That's right. The conclusion is free of charge.

NOT: Turn off your mind, relax, and float downstream to Reluctant Atheist's staggeringly metaphorical production, BUT IT’S A GOOD SAW!. It's in all caps, so it must be true.

Well, that's all for today. I apologize to the submissions I didn't include, but, well, they weren't about truth!

Tune in next time - March the 13th - to Mathetes, where we will discuss Children and Religion. And remember…there is no spoon.

I'm going to be unable to post for a little while (in the past I've had a play in which I am the lead, pnuemonia, and a seriously upped amount of homework). I apologise, and encourage the other contributors to this site to post while I'm unable to.
