Pastor Ted

The Reverend Ted Haggard, previously the leader of the 30 million-strong National Association of Evangelicals was one of the strongest opponents of gay rights in the country. He preached banishment to all homosexuals and his craggy face swore at the heathen masses from millions of televisions. One might even say he ate anti-gay hate for breakfast. The Reverend recently stepped down from his NAE presidency. Why? Well, it turns out that for the past 3 years Mr. Haggard has been having sex with a gay prostitute.

I'll just give you a moment to compose yourself.

Mike Jones, the prostistute in question, called up a radio station to go public with the information because he was concerned by Haggard's hypocrisy. "It made me angry that here's someone preaching about gay marriage and going behind the scenes having gay sex," he said. Apparently Haggard, or "Art" as he called himself when meeting Jones, contacted his constituent every month for 3 years running. In addition to this, Jones claims Haggard used methamphetamine to heighten their sexual encounters.

Gay sex and drug use from the leading anti-gay evangelical in America? I think Jon Stewart phrased it best when he said "You know you're in trouble when you've seated the moral high ground to a drug dealing prostitute."

Here's a rather ironic and creepy film of him and his pre-resignation slogan.

Here is him denying relations or even knowledge of the existence of Mike Jones.

Here's a voice mail recording of him asking for more meth from Jones

Aaaaand here is his eventual statement of apology for his "lifelong sexual problem"

Hypocrisy is truly the most entertaining thing since sliced bread.
